Our cabin is Emma Lake is the perfect launch pad for skiing on and around the lake. There are a lot of trails through the woods near the cabin, but most of them are skidoo trails. While we are not adverse to skiing on them, we are overjoyed when fallen trees make them inaccessible to skidoos (sometimes for a whole winter!). But the noise and smoke does tend to reduce the wilderness factor, even when caused by skidoos 5 miles away.

So, we make our own trails through the woods and cabins around the lake as well as across the lake. Again, once out on the open lake we have to watch out for the multitudes of skidoos... But, we also have several wooded islands nearby which allow us to escape from the skidoos and wind.
